The power of intention is very powerful. It can change your life.
As the alternative medicine guru and author Deepak Chopra once said:
Intention is the starting point of every dream. It is the creative power that fulfills all of our needs, whether for money, relationships, spiritual awakening, or love.”
All the things that happen in the universe and in our lives are brought about through our intentions. The seemingly mindless action of wiggling your toes, or the more thoughtful activity of calling or buying a special gift for a friend — it all begins with intention.
Intention has long been observed by the sages of India as the shaper of our destiny. In fact, it is well defined in the Upanishads, the classic Vedic text.
You are what your deepest desire is. As your desire, so is your intention. As your intention is, so is your will. As your will is, so is your deed. As your deed is, so is your destiny.”
Maximizing the power of intention is not that difficult, especially if you start with these three steps:
- Create an intention about wanting to achieve better health. You can’t be wishy-washy about this. Write your intention down on a piece of paper, and put it on your refrigerator as a reminder to yourself. It’s important to hand-write the note.
- Visualize your life as a healthier person. What kinds of foods do you eat? What do you do to get exercise? How does this change your relationship with others? How would it make you feel to be healthier?
- Acknowledge your desire for better health, and then resolve to take the the appropriate actions to realize this intention.
By clearly identifying and setting an intention, you make it clear not only to others but to yourself as well, that you are indeed fully dedicated to what you plan to do.
Setting an intention to achieve better health will help guide you as you take concrete steps toward the realization of this goal.
